Slack is a popular messaging app, well known for its deep integration with other third-party applications. Slack allows you to reply to an email or set up a calendar event without ever having to switch to another app. However, whether you are a fresher fiddling with your first job or an industry veteran with years of experience, one nuisance you must have faced when using slack is finding channel ID, team ID, or user ID. It can be really confusing at times, so to help you out, here is a detailed guide on how to find slack channel id, User ID, and Team ID.
There are two easy ways to help you get Slack channel ID.
Our first way to find channel ID is by using a web browser. For this to work, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open your favorite web browser like chrome, firefox, or internet explorer and sign in to your Slack account.
Note: You can sign in using your email or by signing in with Apple.
Step 2: Now, tap on the “channel” whose ID you want to find. You can find the “Channels” panel on the left side of the dashboard as shown in the image.
Step 3: Once the “channel” is selected, you will find a long list of letters and numbers on the address bar. The last part, starting with the letter “C”, “D” or “G” is the channel ID.
Note: The letters can be different though, so look at the image for reference.
The second way to get access to channel ID is by using the desktop app. It is handy for people who already have slack installed in their workstations and do not want to go into the hassle of signing in using the web again.
Below is a detailed step-by-step process that you can use to find the channel ID using the desktop app.
Step 1: Open the slack desktop app and click on the channel name from the left panel. You can see the name of the channel appear at the top when clicked.
Step 2: Now, hover your mouse on the channel name and press right-click. This will open a new expanded window as shown in the image.
