The first method we’ll be exploring is to use the “Text Formatting” menu.
Step 1: Before you begin the process you need to first of all open the software to find the page with texts you want to highlight.
Step 2: The next step is to select the text which you want to highlight by clicking twice on the specific text or dragging across a block of texts. As soon as you do that the “Text Formatting” menu will display on the page.
Step 3: Click on the down symbol beside the letter “A” icon, and you will find the text color and background buttons.

Step 2: Go to the beginning or the end of the block of texts you want to highlight, and type forward slash (/) followed by the word “color”. You will immediately get an auto-suggest drop-down of all the available colors to select from.
Step 3: You could also type forward slash (/) followed by your selected color, space, and lastly the word “background” (e.g /red background), and press “Enter”. Your paragraph text will immediately be highlighted with the selected color.
Step 4: Now your texts are highlighted. You can explore the 10 available color options in Notion. The color options include Black, Gray, Brown, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, and Red.
Highlight in Notion for Mobile App is similarly as easy as the desktop and web app versions, however, there is a difference between both.
Step 1: Gain access to the Notion mobile app by downloading it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store depending on the device in use.
Step 2: Follow the basic setup instructions to get started.
Step 3: On the Notion mobile app, you need to hold on and drag to select the texts you want to highlight until it shows a display with the “A” icon. Click on it and select your preferred highlight from the available text color and background options.

Before you begin, you need to know that you can easily highlight the texts when you insert the table block in your document. But if you are trying to highlight it in the database’s table view, you can only do it in the text column. It’s currently not possible to do it in other column types like the date.
And to highlight test in a table is only available on the Desktop and web versions.
First of all, here is how to highlight text in the inserted table.
Step 1: Type “/” for commands, then scroll down to select “Table”, to create an editable table you can work on.
Step 2: Once you have pasted or typed text in the rows and/or columns of the table, click on and drag across texts you want to highlight to select them. Once you do that, an automatic list of tools you can use will appear.
Step 4: To highlight text in a table, simply move over to the “A” icon that represents “Text Color” and click on it. Select your preferred text color or background color and click from the list of options to implement the change.
Now, let’s look at how to highlight the texts in database table views.
Step 1. If you did not create one table view, you can type forward slash “/” and click on “Table view” under the database. Follow up the pop-up windows to set. Then, click “+” to select “Text” to add a new column. Once done, you can type the texts in the new column.
Step 2. Hold on your mouse and drag across the texts to select them. Click the drop-down icon near the “A” icon and you will find the highlight options (text color and background), pick up the one you need to highlight. Now, it is done.
